Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, two of the biggest stars of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League, plan to play on the DP World Tour this fall.

Both players mentioned in press conferences Wednesday at LIV Golf Chicago that they would be committed to European Tour events, and for Rahm, that includes a plan for the Ryder Cup.

Rahm said he plans to play the Spanish Open, the Andalusia Masters and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Those three events, plus the Olympics, would meet the Ryder Cup’s European criteria. However, Rahm will not pay his DP World Tour fines.

“I’m registered for the tournament. We registered a long time ago. Whether they let me play or not is another matter,” he said Wednesday. “I’m not a big fan of fines. … I’ve been very upfront about the fines. I have no intention of paying them and we’re still trying to have a discussion with them about how we can work that out.”

Koepka also plans to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, saying: “St. Andrews is my favorite course in the world.”

LIV Golf Chicago begins Friday at Bolingbrook Golf Club and is the league’s final event before its team championship in Dallas, Sept. 20-22.
