Sexual consent contract used by footballers before relationships become public

As the number of cases of sexual assault and rape involving footballers has increased sharply in recent years, the director of the School of Managers’ Training (CENAFE), Miguel Angel Galan, has published a consent form which he says is now standard procedure for footballers having relationships.

Galan, who has been heavily involved in the politics of Spanish football in recent times, has published a form that he claims is being used regularly by La Liga footballers in recent times. The form in question is, however, written in English, and he explained on Cuatro (as reported by MD) that the form came into his possession after being passed on by a foreign player.

He then claimed that he had express knowledge of two La Liga players using the contract, including one from the Tercera, as well as various methods of recording consent, such as mobile applications.

The news comes a week after Valencia forward Rafa Mir spent two nights in police custody after being accused of sexual assault, which he has strongly denied. Former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves was also found guilty of rape earlier this year while awaiting appeal, and faces a possible four-and-a-half-year prison sentence if his appeal is unsuccessful.
