Nelly Korda said the United States had “unfinished business” in its bid to prevent Europe from maintaining its grip on the Solheim Cup.

The United States have not won the trophy since 2017, with Korda’s singles defeat to Carlota Ciganda allowing the Europeans to retain their crown 12 months ago.

Stacy Lewis is once again captaining the hosts in Virginia and will be hoping for a strong performance from Korda, who has had a stellar first half of the 2024 season.

The world number one has yet to taste victory at the Solheim Cup, however, a series she hopes to see conclude at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club this weekend.

“Every time you wear the red, white, blue and the stars and stripes, it has a different meaning,” Korda said before the event began.

“You don’t just play for yourself, but also for your captains, your teammates and your country. There is nothing like it. We still have things to sort out.”

“Of course I wasn’t on the winning side, but every experience I’ve had in the Solheim Cups has been incredible.”

Korda’s record at the event was solid with seven wins in her 12 matches, the best winning percentage of any player on the U.S. team.

Lilia Vu, Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson are among the other stars on a strong team led by Lewis, who could look to pair Korda with Allisen Corpuz.

The pair won both their foursome matches in Spain last year and will likely be reunited when Lewis names his opening pairings for Friday.

“I think it’s also a super exciting and refreshing thing to have a teammate, teammates, captains and people to lean on when you normally don’t,” Korda added.

“There’s nothing like it. There’s nothing like walking out on the first tee and feeling all that nerves. We’ve got a great group of girls. We’ve got a great group of guys. We’ve got a great captain. We’ve got some great assistant captains. Hopefully everything comes together and we play some great golf for the fans here this week.”
