Liverpool midfielder set to return for Nottingham Forest after injury

The international break is finally coming to an end and many Liverpool fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the Premier League.

Arne Slot’s side have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, sitting second in the league with three wins from three games. However, the momentum from a thumping 3-0 victory over Manchester United has been interrupted by the unfortunate international break.

But with Nottingham Forest’s visit to Anfield next Saturday on the horizon, Slot has already begun preparations for the game.

According to James PearceCurtis Jones has returned to full training ahead of the game. The 23-year-old midfielder missed the last two games before the September break with a minor muscle problem but is understood to have now completed his recovery programme.

Pearce also said new signing Federico Chiesa was also part of Arne Slot’s squad which was put through its paces at Kirkby on Tuesday as he eyes a chance to make his Liverpool debut.

Chiesa has spent the international break focusing on his fitness, having mutually agreed with Italy coach Luciano Spalletti that it would be more beneficial for him to remain on Merseyside rather than join the national team.

Darwin Nunez, currently suspended for five matches for the national teamand Joe Gomez, who was not selected for England, both took part in Tuesday’s session, along with a number of young players including striker The Ngumoha Riverwhose transfer from Chelsea’s academy was completed last week.

Ngumoha could make his debut for Liverpool Under-18s in their home game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the South American trio of AlissonLuis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister are expected to be the last to return from international duty, with Slot aiming to have a full squad by Thursday ahead of Saturday’s game.
