For many years, success in Liverpool has been linked to one song, and it’s not You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Dua Lipa’s One Kiss has been adopted as the Reds’ unofficial trophy anthem, played after Liverpool’s cup finals since Liverpool won the Champions League in Madrid in 2019.
The song is often played at Anfield and brings a smile to Liverpool fans’ faces when they think back to their cup final success.
Liverpool recently won the Carabao Cup in February this year and One Kiss was played after the final whistle.
It’s become the Reds’ anthem of success, but how did winning trophies at Liverpool become synonymous with the 2018 pop hit?

Liverpool’s first ‘One Kiss’
When Liverpool reached the Champions League final in kyiv in 2018, it was Dua Lipa who opened the show. It was there that she performed One Kiss and, although the game that night didn’t go Liverpool’s way, the anthem has been stuck in the Reds’ heads ever since.
Written in collaboration with Calvin Harris, who took part in Liverpool’s open-top bus parade after winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in 2022, the song topped the UK charts when it was released in 2018.
Dua Lipa even revealed she hoped to travel to Anfield to watch the Reds in action during an interview with the club’s website in 2020.
“I will definitely come and watch a game one day. My dad, who is a big Arsenal fan but has a soft spot for Liverpool, and my manager Ben, who is a big Liverpool fan, are thinking about when that might happen,” she told Liverpool FC.
Dua Lipa at Anfield
Although it wouldn’t be for a match, rumors have started circulating online that Dua Lipa could perform at Anfield this summer, much like Taylor Swift did in June, and an official announcement could soon come either from the club or the superstar herself.
The club received a handsome sum of money following Taylor Swift’s performance at Anfield and will be looking to pocket more if Dua Lipa performs.
While some Liverpool fans may be delighted to see Dua Lipa in their stadium, all the Anfield faithful will be hoping to hear One Kiss playing over the speakers at some point this season as Liverpool lift another trophy.
